Clem Ugorji
Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP), World Economic Forum (WEF)
A public policy and circular economy expert, Clem is the Founder and Lead Advisor at Circularium Africa
Advisory. He is also an independent consultant on policy issues and plastic circularity to several
organizations, including the World Bank Group (WBG), the United Nations Environment Programme
(UNEP), the Environmental Coalition for Standards (ECOS) as well as the World Economic Forum (WEF),
where he serves as the African Region Lead for the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP).
Prior to transitioning to consulting in 2021, Clem held senior leadership and Board level roles in the
corporate sector, including as Vice President for Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability at The
Coca-Cola Company, where he advanced the company’s public policy and sustainable business agenda,
including the World Without Waste initiative, across 33 markets in West and Mid Africa and the Islands
while also serving as a Director on the Board of Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited.
Clem is a member of the Steering Committee of the Sustainability Policy Commission at the Nigerian
Economic Summit Group (NESG), the Technical Committee of the Nigerian Circular Economy Working
Group (NCEWG) as well as the Technical Committee of the African Circular Economy Alliance (ACEA),
where he is currently providing strategic advisory on the initiative to develop a common regional recycling
standard for food-contact rPET for Africa. He has co-authored or peer-reviewed policy papers and
roadmaps on plastic circularity in the Africa region
