Dr. Jummai A. Tutuwa, an Associate Professor of Industrial Biochemistry, is a distinguished scientist and the current Director General/CEO of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO) in Lagos. With a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Maiduguri and a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology, she has over 30 years of experience across health, science, education, and research sectors. Her expertise includes biotechnology, food science, and medicinal plants, and she has represented Nigeria at international biotechnology events in the USA, UK, France, and other countries. 

Dr. Jummai has published over 45 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the advancement of industrial biotechnology. She has secured both national and international research grants and received numerous awards, including “Best of all Science, Research Technology and Innovation in Nigeria.” Known for her leadership, she has introduced over 30 colleagues to the Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN) and supported BSN’s initiatives. A committed scientist and community advocate, she balances her career with family life and encourages others to remain focused on achieving their goals.
